Warrens Bakery has been placed firmly in position as the nation's favourite producer of authentic Cornish pasties after a series of public polls and national and world championship award wins. Recently voted Cornwall's favourite pasty maker by the Cornish public in four independent radio and newspaper polls, a winner at The World Pasty Championship and recipients of a 'Highly Commended' and 'Gold' at The 2016 British Pie Awards, the craft Cornish bakery is delighted with the victories which also coincide with their expansion across the country.
The artisan bakery won a collection of accolades at The 2016 British Pie Awards in addition to the 'Highly Commended' award for its Traditional Cornish Pasty and fought off fierce competition from other well-known West Country companies to win the prestigious honour. Not only did they pick up the 'Highly Commended' and 'Gold Award' for their Traditional Cornish Pasty, they also brought home more 'Silver' and 'Bronze' awards than any other pasty producer in the competition.
Their recent success at The 2016 British Pie Awards has come on top of last week's praise at the World Pasty Championships which saw Warrens Bakery claim the prestigious 'Open Savoury' category with their chicken, potato, swede and onion in a creamy white sauce pasty. Earlier this month, the highly decorated bakery also unanimously won radio and newspaper polls including Pirate FM's, 'The Cornish Pasty, What's Your Favourite?' competition. Combined, the series of polls held by the local Cornish press and Pirate FM were voted for by over 4,000 people.
Chairman of Warrens Bakery, Mark Sullivan says: “As the oldest pasty producer in the world producing pasties since 1860, we have been winning awards across the decades, but these awards feel very special. One of our main points of difference is that we not only make these products, but we retail them as well. This allows us to constantly be in touch with our customers and allows us to develop our product range and be innovative.”
