Birmingham’s St Patrick’s Parade is set to return to its Digbeth roots in 2024 following an announcement made at the Páirc Festival at the New Irish Centre, who will launch the event in the city.
It means that it will be the first time in four years that the huge celebration of Irish music and culture will take place back in its original venue. In a statement made by Parade co-ordinator, Maurice Malone, who is also CEO of Birmingham Irish Association (BIA), he said: “The Birmingham St. Patrick’s Parade is a huge calendar event which holds a special place in the hearts of many.
“The Birmingham Irish Association look forward to relaunching the Parade and are thrilled that it will fall on St Patrick’s Day itself. We will be releasing more information as we move closer to the event which will be shared via social media and our website and hope to see you all to celebrate with us next year.”
Said to be, by many, the third biggest St Patrick's Parade' in the world, next year’s Parade will take place on Sunday, March 17 - St Patrick's Day itself. Last year’s event saw a smaller version which took place in Cannon Hill Park as the organisation of the event was taken up by the BIA.
More information about the parade will be announced within the near future as the event gets closer.
