Handcrafted marshmallows and chocolate, gourmet risottos, artisan dressings and luxury cocktail sorbets are just some of the delicious new products waiting to be discovered at a unique 'pop up' marketplace. The creations are being retailed at London's Old Street Station as part of the first ever Artisan Springboard - a unique project from Kitchen Table Projects, which aims to launch the next generation of artisan producers.
Thousands of commuters are expected to flock through the doors over the next 12 weeks, where they will be able to try, and buy, the diverse selection of new products from all eleven entrepreneurs. They are Dips Ltd, Fifth Dimension Chocolates, Koko and Tree, Lushice Sorbet, Macarons by Babette, Milk and Date, Morso Food, Stoffell Ltd, Sweet Hangovers Bakery, The London Marshmallow Company and Tiggs. You can also pop in and sample a range of delicious food and drinks before work, at lunchtime - and after work!
Foodie business Kitchen Table Projects are running the 'pop up' alongside a farm shop and café, until September 12th. As part of their project, the producers have access to a shop window, and they are also being mentored by 14 food and drink experts specialising in marketing, PR and finance, as well as photography and branding. The Artisan Springboard aims to help start-up food and drink businesses move up the industry ladder.
Tara Sundramoorthi, founder of Kitchen Table Projects, said: "Not only do our artisans have access to a rather unique shop window to showcase their products - there is also a team of 14 foodie experts, who will provide them with invaluable advice about the industry at the same time. They will be putting their creations in front of 50,000 people each day - this could really be a life changing opportunity for them! This is also a real chance for foodies to discover just what the next generation of artisans are creating - so come on down!"
