After successfully staging England’s record victory over New Zealand in the 1st Royal London ODI, Edgbaston Stadium has confirmed that more seats will be installed for the 3rd Test Match of the Investec Ashes Series, which it hosts from Wednesday July 29 until Sunday August 2nd.
The additional tickets could generate a record aggregate attendance for a Test Match at Edgbaston with the seats located above the Stanley Barnes Stand.
Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: “Edgbaston has a fantastic history of staging crucial Ashes Test Matches, with the ‘Greatest Test’ of the 2005 series remembered by cricket fans around the world.
We had used temporary seating at Edgbaston before our £32 million redevelopment, and by creating a partnership with Arena Seating we are ensuring that one of the leading providers in this field will provide an increased capacity of the stadium.
Arena has previously worked on the Ryder Cup, F1 Grand Prix, Wimbledon and the Olympics, so we’re delighted that this new partnership gives even more supporters a chance to see one of this summer’s biggest sporting events.”
This summer’s Investec Test Match will be the 14th in an Ashes Series hosted by Edgbaston, with England currently boasting five wins against Australia’s three, with five drawn matches.
Terry Smith, Project Director of Arena Seating, commented: “We’re excited to be back at Edgbaston and adapting the venue ahead of the prestigious Ashes event.
This is the perfect example of the role that temporary seating products can play in meeting demand for an event, without the need for long-term investment in permanent construction. We can provide the same level of comfort and sightlines with temporary as can be achieved with permanent – ensuring the spectator’s experience comes first.”
