It has been reported that First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella, a North Shore resident, was among six individuals presented with the Consul General’s Heritage Award at the Jamaican Consulate’s Manhattan offices.
As previously noted, the Consul General’s Heritage Awards dates back to 2013 and recognizes the service and work of individuals within both “their own spheres of influence and the Jamaican community.”
Kinsella, a former commanding officer of Staten Island’s 120th Precinct, traces her roots back to Jamaica. In a statement posted to Kinsella’s Twitter/X account, Kinsella said the following: “Honoured to receive the prestigious award from the Consulate General of Jamaica today!
“As someone of Jamaican & Guyanese descent, this recognition holds a special place in my heart. Grateful for the support of my heritage and excited for the journey ahead.” As stated on the website of the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York, the main objective of the consulate is to promote and safeguard the interests of Jamaica and its nationals in the 33 states in the U.S. which fall under its jurisdiction.
