Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has confirmed that she will compete at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on July 24 and 25.
The world’s best athletes are set to head to the Park for the three-day athletics event, including the world’s only two-day IAAF Diamond League meeting on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July, with the Sainsbury’s IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final taking place on Sunday July 26.
Ennis-Hill will return to the Stadium where she created London 2012’s most iconic moment as she clinched Olympic gold on the same evening as her British teammates Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford on ‘Super Saturday’.
The 29 year old missed the 2014 season after giving birth to her first child but will return to IAAF Diamond League action in London and is looking forward to testing herself ahead of an important summer and her long term goal of the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.
She said: “I am really looking forward to the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games in the Olympic Stadium. My main goal this season is to be as competitive as possible with the long term goal being the Rio Olympics.”
British Athletics have secured the right to host athletics events in the former Olympic Stadium for one month every year for the next 50 years from 2016 and Ennis-Hill is excited about returning to the scene of her success from 2012.
