In America, Friday 4th September will be officially ‘Lazy Moms Day’ with mums all over the country being encouraged to take it easy and have a day of relaxation.  It’s not a day that’s celebrated in the UK, but with a survey having indicated that women spend nearly double the amount of time on household chores than men, is it time we adopted something similar to highlight the gender housework difference.

According to the survey, just under 90% of women said they were responsible for all the cooking, changing of the bedsheets and cleaning the toilet.

Whilst men came out on top for DIY and taking out the bins, it was women that were hands down the biggest contributors to chores such as vacuuming, ironing and taking care of the household bills.

Therefore, come September 4th, ACE Gentle is encouraging women, whether they are mums or not, to join in with the spirit of Lazy Mums Day and encourage other members of their household to take on the chores.

Kevin Day from Robinson Young, UK Distributor for ACE Gentle, one of the leading stain remover and detergent boosters on the market, commented:

“Even though the number of mums going back to work after having children, and the number of women becoming the main breadwinner, is ever increasing, there is still a clear divide between men and women when it comes to completing household tasks. Therefore, by having a UK ‘Lazy Mums Day’, we will be able to highlight this gap and push for more gender housework equality!”
