New research has revealed that Welsh people are the luckiest in the UK, based on winnings data from the Postcode Lottery, National Lottery and Premium Bonds. Experts at Casino.co.uk, which provides the best UK casino reviews and ratings, ranked each nation of the UK by calculating the monthly average total winnings each has had from The People’s Postcode Lottery, The National Lottery and Premium Bonds.

The study revealed that Welsh is the luckiest nationality in the UK, with the highest number of winnings per person on average. The average amount from the three lotteries that goes to winners in Wales each month is £3,128,277, so when compared against the country’s estimated population of 3,105,410, there is an average of £1.01 per person, the highest of the four countries in the United Kingdom.

People in Scottland rank as the second luckiest with an average winnings of £0.95 per person. There is an estimated 5,479,900 in the country, and lottery winnings for people living there average out to £5,207,988.07 per month.

English is the third luckiest nationality, winning £0.80 per person on average, based on a population of around 56,536,419, and monthly average winnings of £45,375,257.90 going to people in England. Northern Irish, ranks in last place for luck, winning an average of £0.41 per person.

The study also analysed each region in England, and revealed North East England is the luckiest, winning an average of £2,795,727 monthly. Compared against its estimated population of 2,646,772, that means the average monthly winnings per person in North East England totals £1.06 - the highest amount in the UK, making it the region with the most luck.

North West England ranks second, totalling £7,262,295 per month on average, with £0.98 winnings for each of the 7,422,295 people who live in the region. Yorkshire and the Humber is third, amassing a monthly average total of £5,100,578, putting per person wins at an average of £0.93 per month.

Winning a total of £7,833,549 per month on average and £0.84 per person is the South East of England, putting the region in fourth, which places the South West in fifth in the rankings with £4,563,207 in total wins per month and ££0.80 per person each month. The Midlands ranks as the sixth luckiest region in England, winning £8,576,064 a month in total wins equating to £0.79 per person, whereas East of England, the seventh luckiest region, totals wins of £4,758,225 per month and £0.75 per person on average.

London ranks as the eighth luckiest region in the UK, winning an average total of £4.485,614 per month, resulting in a monthly per-person average of £0.51. An expert from Casino.co.uk commented on the findings:
