A team of 64 has been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the World Athletics Championships Oregon 2022 [15-24 July]. The squad has been selected with the objective of optimising medal success and also with the expectation that those athletes have the ability to progress through rounds to reach finals.

It was a busy day one of the Müller UK Athletics Championships at the Manchester Regional Arena as a number of athletes proved this is where it starts as they kickstarted their summer Championships campaigns at the leading fixture in the domestic track and field calendar.

The 2011 World champion Yohan Blake turned back the clock and his young challengers in winning the men’s 100m at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships at the National Stadium. He clocked 9.85 (1.0 mps) to be crowned national champion once again.

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie said that the two-match Twenty20 series against world number one side India will be a great advertisement for the game. The Irish, who are ranked 14th, will be aiming to produce a major upset in the Malahide matches today (Sunday) and Tuesday.
