In the past, it was considered unprofitable to electrify heavy goods vehicles that transport cargo over long distances. But now researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have shown that it can be cheaper to run heavy goods vehicles on electricity than on diesel.

“I myself am surprised by the results and hope that more haulage companies and heavy goods vehicle manufacturers will be willing to invest in electrification now that we have shown that it can be cost-effective,” says Johannes Karlsson, Doctoral student in Automatic Control Engineering at Chalmers. The transition from a fossil-fuelled to an electric vehicle fleet has so far been most visible in lighter vehicles, such as private cars and delivery vans.

With just seven years left until the 2030 ban of new petrol and diesel vehicles takes effect, many are wondering whether now is the time to make the switch to an electric vehicle.

Robert Byrne, General Manager of adi Vehicle Charging Solutions, a division of multi-disciplinary engineering firm adi Group entirely dedicated to charging point infrastructure solutions, comments on the UK’s journey to EV infrastructure development. “Concerns about the carbon emissions caused by both petrol and diesel fuel are certainly not news to anyone,” he says.

The Little Car Company, manufacturers of limited-edition hand built electric scaled cars, announces the first details of the highly anticipated Tamiya Wild One MAX, which will be publicly unveiled this Summer, starting with a limited-run Launch Edition.

Based on the original Tamiya Wild One (58050) radio-controlled car - first released in 1985 - the Tamiya Wild One MAX Launch Edition will be relaunched as a full-scale vehicle and limited to 100 examples before other versions are released. Whilst the project has taken longer than expected due to industry-wide supply delays, The Little Car Company took the time to listen to feedback from deposit holders.

LIQUI MOLY is primarily known for its motor oils and additives. They make an important contribution to the operational reliability of vehicles. This is precisely the central task of the products for electrically driven variants.

The new Battery Coolant EV 200, where EV stands for Electric Vehicle, fulfils an important purpose: It acts as a thermal manager. This is necessary because the technology of electric and hybrid vehicles only functions optimally in certain temperature windows. The range between 15 °C and 40 °C is ideal for lithium-ion batteries.

Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM) and Flash Entertainment (Flash) have officially integrated their activities and operations, combining the complementary expertise of the two entities to launch a new powerhouse that will shape the future of events, entertainment, and venue management throughout the Middle East and beyond.
