This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week (4th-10th October) and an education expert has shared five pieces of advice on how to support children if they have learning disabilities. Interestingly, research conducted by Oxford Home Schooling revealed that while overseeing their children’s learning during lockdown, many parents spotted potential signs of a learning difficulty.

A devoted family, who have experienced the devastating impact of dementia first-hand, are set to join hundreds of fundraisers going the extra mile for Alzheimer’s Society at Coventry Memory Walk. Andy Norris who cares for his wife Kim, is donning his walking boots together with his family at Coventry Memory Walk on 9 October 2022 and is encouraging others to join them at the historic War Memorial Park, Coventry to raise vital funds and awareness for the charity.

A lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton has raised over £2,600 for Blood Cancer UK after completing a personal fitness challenge during Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Rebecca Mincher, Inclusivity Lead at the University’s Law School, challenged herself to tackle her first half marathon and complete a total of 50 miles in a day, to raise funds for charity following the loss of her father.

A new report from The Royal College of Emergency Medicine finds that patients presenting with mental health problems are twice as likely to spend 12-hours, or more, in Emergency Departments than other patients.

National data show that nearly one in eight (12%) mental health patients presenting to an Emergency Department in crisis face a 12-hour stay from time of arrival, compared with nearly one in 16 (6%) of all attendances.

Through the partnership, the Steve Morgan Foundation is generously investing £5 million that will see Diabetes UK deliver a UK-wide peer support programme to thousands of young people living with type 1 diabetes across the UK as they transition to adulthood.
