According to MEA (the Ministry of External Affairs), Mayank Joshi has been appointed as India's next High Commissioner to Jamaica.
In an official statement, the MEA said that he is expected to take up the new assignment shortly. “Mayank Joshi (IFS:2003), presently Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India, in Tokyo, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Jamaica.”, it said in the press release.
According to the MEA statement, India and Jamaica have traditionally enjoyed cordial and friendly relations based on common linkages of history, parliamentary democracy, membership in the Commonwealth, English language and the love of cricket. Presently the diplomat is serving as Deputy Chief of Mission in India’s Embassy in Tokyo and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
The son of BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Mayank Joshi recently joined Samajwadi Party in the presence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav during a public rally for the seventh phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, in Azamgarh.
