Trinidadian soca king, Bunji Garlin, will be one of the star attractions when he will be performing at this year's Glastonbury Music Festival, the biggest such event in the UK and among the most prestigious music festivals in the world.
He has been called upon to headline one of the main dance stages lining up alongside his wife and fellow soca star, Fay Ann Lyons at the star-studded festival in Somerset, this year.
T&T music hero, Garlin, said: “I am looking forward to the Glastonbury performance and I am excited about the opportunity to present the music and culture of Trinidad and Tobago to such a diverse audience.”
That he will be sharing the top billing with his wife, Fay-Ann, Bunji said: “I am also thrilled that I will be sharing the experience with my wife, who is dynamic and equals the level of aggression with which I bring the soca music forward.”
Bunji first performed in the UK in 1999 and has, over the years, built a dedicated fan base that comprises Trinbagonians living out there as well as non Caribbean.
The star’s popularity in the UK has been at an all time high, with his sold out London show last year as well as record levels of radio play across the board with a number of hit singles from his album 'Differentology.'
The festival runs from June 24 to 28 with Bunji and Fay-Ann performing on June 26 on the Gully Stage of the Silver Hayes area which features over 200 artistes and DJs on seven different stages including the Gully, Sonic, Wow, BBC Introducing and Heds Party stages.
The Glastonbury Festival attracts over 185,000 patrons and features top international artistes such as, Foo Fighters, Kanye West, The Who, Florence & The Machine, Pharrell Williams, Paul Weller, Alt-J, Lionel Richie, Motörhead, Mary J Blige, Alabama Shakes, Paloma Faith, Patti Smith, The Chemical Brothers, Rudimental and dozens more.
