During the afternoon of Saturday July 11th 2015 at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham the second Club Legends Cup indoor football tournament will take place in aid of Cure Leukaemia.
Former stars from Midlands football will relive old rivalries and friendships as they once again team up with the fans to entertain spectators and raise vital funds for the Birmingham based charity.
This year will see the East Midlands take on the West Midlands with Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City joining Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City for ‘Derby Day’. This time the big Midlands derby matches will be guaranteed with the two groups ensuring the fans will enjoy the thrill derby matches always create.
Once again fans will have the opportunity to bid to play alongside their heroes via www.ClubLegendsCup.co.uk and become legends for the day with all proceeds going to Cure Leukaemia. Each team will have three places set aside for the fans to join in with the dressing room banter and play at the prestigious Barclaycard Arena.
Darren Purse, who captained Blues to victory last July said, “It was a fantastic event last year and we were very proud to lift the trophy for Birmingham City. I’m very excited to have the East Midlands teams involved and to guarantee the big derby matches will add spice to the day. We all remember Robbie Savage and Dion Dublin in the Birmingham derby; maybe they’ll meet on the pitch one more time! I hope the fans really get behind the event once again and help raise significant funds for Cure Leukaemia.”
The Birmingham Mail and BBC WM 95.6 have been named as official media partners for the event and will be promoting the tournament extensively in the coming months. On the day, BBC WM 95.6 will broadcast live from the arena and the Birmingham Mail will provide a live blog through their website.
