Did you know the humble sandwich is the UK's #1 meal? A recent study* revealed that as well as sarnies being a firm favourite, the time we spend preparing our meals reduced to just 32 minutes in 2014 from 60 minutes in 1980.
Although we're spending less time in the kitchen and the love for the traditional white bread sandwich still exists, Brits are really making a meal of it when it comes to quirky, dinner-time sandwiches.
With British Sandwich Week just around the corner (10-16 May), Primula Cheese have put together our favourite cheese sandwich recipes that can all be made in a flash!
Here are our top 4....
1. Primula Cheese and Ham Wraps
Ingredients: Serves 2-4
- 1 x Primula Original Cheese tube
- 4 x wholemeal or seeded tortilla wraps
- Selection of crisp lettuce leaves
- 4 x red vine tomatoes thinly sliced
- 4 x large slices or 1 pack of wafer thin cooked ham
Method:
1. Lay out a wrap & squeeze a swirl of Primula cheese on top. Using a knife spread a thin layer over the whole wrap leaving room at the edges.
2. Randomly scatter torn lettuce leaves over the cheesy layer followed by slices of tomato.
3. Swirl some cheese over the mixed salad then lay the ham over the top.
4. Fold the wrap to make a tortilla or roll it up into a sausage and cut it into 1cm pieces.
5. Repeat with the remaining wraps.
