On Saturday 16th December, BRI Wealth Management, the leading Midlands based wealth management firm, successfully transformed its Coventry office into a winter wonderland for a festive fun day dedicated to young carers from the local communities of Coventry and Warwickshire.
This heartwarming initiative was inspired by Jenny Mills, Senior Portfolio Manager, who became aware of the Young Carers initiative via a television programme that shed light on how young carers are often forgotten, prompting Jenny to propose this as the focus for BRI's CSR committee this Christmas, particularly for those in the local area. Reflecting on the motivation behind the initiative, Jenny Mills said: "On watching the programme, it made me realise that throughout stages of our lives, we care for our siblings, and at times we find this hard as an adult with our own family commitments and work.
“However, to see how young children care for their parents and how it affects their lives, such as their schoolwork and not being able to play with friends, really losing out on their childhood, really stood out for me. I just felt there was something as a committee/company we could do just so they could have a few hours of being a child and having time for themselves that we could do for them, as a thank you for all they do."
This year's event exemplified BRI Wealth Management's ongoing commitment to community service, expanding on the success of the previous year's "Mission Christmas" initiative. The firm was proud to partner with the Caring Together Young Carers Warwickshire and Young Carers Coventry services; both of which are provided by Carers Trust Heart of England, to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young carers in the region.
The event was organised by Jenny Mills and Emily Finnegan, with the support of volunteers Jade Whitmore, Sammy Nixon, and Nirjeet Lyall, all Wealth Management Administrators. The day featured a range of activities, including food, drinks, games, a festive film screening, Christmas party gift bags, and a special visit from Santa Claus.
Transportation for the young carers, covering pick-up and drop-off, was generously funded by staff donations. "We are delighted to continue our tradition of giving back to the community and providing a day of joy for young carers in Coventry and Warwickshire," said Jenny Mills.
"The support of Caring Together Young Carers Warwickshire and Young Carers Coventry has been instrumental in making this event possible, and we are grateful for their partnership." Carers Trust Heart of England also expressed their appreciation for BRI Wealth Management's ongoing commitment to community engagement.
"BRI's dedication to creating positive experiences for young carers aligns with our mission to enhance their well-being, said a representative from Carers Trust Heart of England.
“We are thrilled to work together to bring smiles to the faces of these incredible young individuals." This event, which hosted close to 25 children and raised a total of £530, reflected BRI Wealth Management's ongoing dedication to making this festive day a memorable experience for all participants.
