Dream Challenges has launched its 2024 Ride the Night event – the UK's biggest all-women cycling event – following the wildly successful 2023 iteration that took place recently on 29th April. Next year's Ride the Night in London will be the company's 10th and it will be held on Saturday 4th May, during which over one thousand women will unite and cycle 50km or 100km through London overnight for people facing cancer.
Sports presenter and Olympic gold medal-winning heptathlete, Dame Denise Lewis DBE, attended Dream Challenges' 2023 Ride the Night and described it as an “inspiring” event to be part of. She said: “Ride the Night is such a fabulous event. I had the pleasure of taking part this year, and the atmosphere was incredible!
“Being part of a team of people challenging themselves to raise money to support people affected by breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer is so inspiring, and I would encourage anyone thinking about taking part to go for it!” Ride the Night London offers participants a unique experience of England's vibrant capital as they will cycle past a huge variety of iconic landmarks after dark, such as Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and Tower Bridge, with the opportunity to witness them illuminated in all their splendour.
Participants who will need to fundraise a minimum of £100 each by Friday 22nd March 2024 (6 weeks before the event), can sign up solo or join as a team to raise much needed funds for Breast Cancer Now, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. All funds raised are split evenly between the charities.
Included in the registration fee and event costs are pre-event warm-ups and entertainment, Ride the Night hi-vis vest and 2024 medal, pasta supper for all participants before the ride begins, first aid support throughout the event, feed stations on the route with a variety of refreshments and gluten-free options available, and a Rider Pack, which is sent out around two weeks before the event takes place and contains a manual, bike number and ride number.
Testimonials from Ride the Night 2023
“I did the 50Km Ride the Night London yesterday and it was great. The route was well marked, particularly at roundabouts, so I never worried about getting lost. I also felt safe riding on the roads chosen for the ride. The Ride Angels were amazing - they were always so friendly and reassuring and really helped when I had a problem with my bike number. The staff at the racecourse and the feed stations were so friendly and helpful too. Thank you so much for a wonderful night.” – Catherine Skottowe
“A great event, fabulous support and well-planned stops. Always super clean toilets and plenty of snacks with a hot cuppa just when you need it. Such important charities for so many. I am forever grateful to research that I get to see my son grow up, and this seems a way to help many others have the same gift through the work of these wonderful charities. Ride the Night is awesome.” – Mary Sparrow
“I completed the 100km Ride the Night London last night – what an amazing event! I feel completely exhilarated. So amazed at what all the incredible women who took part have achieved. Everyone was so kind and supportive. If you're on the fence, then you should definitely do it. It's not an easy distance, but my word, the feeling when you get back to the finish line is something I've never felt.” – Victoria Sarah Marcangeo Lyons
