Birmingham Empowerment Forum and Black Women in Politics, will be hosting a 'Community General Election Question Time' at Laurel Road Sports Centre Laurel Road, Handsworth, in Birmingham.
Following the continual Voter Registration Campaign being run by Birmingham Empowerment Forum and the Black Women in Politics Cross Party Lobby Group encouraging women to get involved in Civic Life, this is seen in the next important stage of engaging Communities into the responsibility of going to the polling station on May 7 using their right to vote in an informed manner; by letting them know that the proposed Candidates accountability starts now and not after the Elections.
At the event, this Friday, March 6, there will be representatives from the main five parties contesting the election of which two are current MP’s and one sitting Councillor: Councillor Robert Alden - The Leader of the Birmingham Conservatives, Local Councillor & Parliamentary Candidate for Birmingham Erdington, Alison Gavin - The Green Party & Parliamentary Candidate for Meriden, John Hemming MP - Lib/Dem MP for Birmingham Yardley, Shabana Mahmood MP – Labour MP for Birmingham Ladywood, and Keith Rowe - UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for Birmingham Northfield.
It is a free Public Event which is being held within the local communities in order for ease of access and bringing national issues into the heart of Birmingham’s Inner City.
