The activism of Ghanaian environmentalists including the likes of A Rocha and Eco-Conscious Citizens yielded results, as Shatta Wale (pic) pulled out of performing at the launch of a Community Mining scheme in Ellembelle, where locals have publicly expressed their opposition.
Eco-Conscious Citizens has urged the scheme to be paused till the supervisory agencies can show that they can effectively monitor and regulate the scheme. Already there's evidence of licensed mining companies polluting lands and water bodies, just like the illegal galamsayers! Definitely a topic for the next Eco-Conscious Citizens Monthly Zoom Meeting (see below).
Having won 1 year's supply of Port Royal patties at Councillor Orleen Hylton's ‘Mayor's Ball’, the manufacturer was asked to match the month's allocation in order to distribute free to the Big Up Harlesden attendees. They obliged, so there'll be a choice of chicken, lamb, beef, saltfish and vegetable for to who want it, whilst stocks last.
For those intended on attending coming will be welcomed. And there will be African Caribbean food on sale.
