The Grange Care Centre in Stanford in the Vale has received a donation of wildlife-friendly items from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to help its residents be at one with nature.

The donation to the care home, located close to the homebuilder’s River Meadow development on Faringdon Road, provided a mix of accessories to enhance biodiversity in the garden of the facility.

Included within the donation was a bird feeding station and feed, a hedgehog house, nest boxes for garden birds, a butterfly nest box, an insect hotel, and bee and butterfly seed pollinators. Whilst committing to giving nature a home on its developments across Oxfordshire, Barratt and David Wilson Homes strives to support wildlife in the areas in which it builds and the contribution to The Grange Care Centre was designed to give its residents an opportunity to help nature’s neighbours.

Wendy Mead, Manager at The Grange Care Centre, said, “This wonderful donation has brought the beauty of wildlife right to our residents’ fingertips, allowing them to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature without having to venture far. It's not just about attracting birds and butterflies; it's about creating moments of joy, fostering connections and providing a therapeutic escape from the everyday.

“It's the gift of nature's tranquillity and a reminder of the profound impact a garden can have on well-being. With this donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes, we're nurturing souls and supporting local biodiversity, and that's a truly heart-warming endeavour.” Whilst helping the care home to attract wildlife to its garden, the donation of wildlife-friendly equipment will also give residents the chance to enjoy nature in the outdoor setting, and a breath of fresh air during the warmer seasons.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes is committed to supporting wildlife on its developments and celebrating its national partnership with the RSPB to help give nature a home. Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We strive to give nature a home at our developments, but we aim to do the same within the local community with donations such as this.

“We hope the residents at The Grange Care Centre can enjoy seeing nature thrive on their doorstep.”
