Prime Video has announced a new six-part observational documentary series, ‘Married to the Game’, offering unprecedented access to the lives of the wives and girlfriends of renowned Premier League footballers during the summer break and the transfer window.
Produced by Entertainment One (eOne), the revealing and entertaining docuseries will launch in 2024 exclusively to Prime members in the UK and Ireland. Much more than just plus-ones to their famous partners, the cast of Married to the Game are confident, independent women in their own right; often juggling their own careers and big social media followings alongside supporting their partners’ all-consuming careers.
With rare access to their home lives over the course of the summer months, Married to the Game will allow viewers to witness first-hand the unique lives these high-profile couples lead. As one season comes to a close, the new transfer window swings open and with it comes major life changes.
Featuring weddings, parties, and international photoshoots, it might look like a super-glamorous lifestyle from the outside, but strip away the Insta-filter and, underneath, these women are dealing with the same universal life challenges that affect us all—from work/life balance and baby blues to relationship stresses and strains—all under a glaring media spotlight. Executive producer for eOne, Rachael Parker, said: “Married to the Game is a series with warmth and humour at its heart, offering a surprising and intimate look behind closed doors at the women who share their lives with some of the world’s most celebrated international footballers.”
Married to the Game is produced by Entertainment One (Ex on the Beach, The Yorkshire Vet). The executive producers for Entertainment One are Rachael Parker and Tom Richardson. The series producer and director for Entertainment One is Jarek Rozenfeld.
