Travel Courier is an award-winning weekly online and monthly print magazine in Canada.
The Turks and Caicos Islands is featured on its October 26th cover with a two-page spread inside. Writer Ann Ruppenstein was among the journalists who Experience Turks and Caicos hosted for the recent State of Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC).
Ruppenstein and the other journalists were treated to experiences outside of Providenciales in keeping with the thrust of Experience Turks and Caicos to market and promote all of the islands that comprise the Turks and Caicos Islands. On North and Middle Caicos, they sampled tasty delights from Isaac Farms, and on Bambarra Beach, as well as explored the beauty of Mudjin Beach.
On Grand Turk and Salt Cay, they learned about the history of the salt industry and saw firsthand the seasonings and bath salts made at the Salt Cay Salt Works. On South Caicos, Ruppenstein was among a handful of journalists who were treated to a one-night stay at the luxurious Sail Rock Resort where she enjoyed a sail to the starfish garden as well as a tour of the family-run Caicos Seafood factory and various sites that were once prominent in the salt industry,
Ruppenstein’s cover story reflected the new marketing thrust with the cover story blurb stating that “There is More to Turks and Caicos than Providenciales”. In the article, she quotes Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Josephine Connolly and Wesley Clerveaux, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism about the importance of spreading the wealth to the other islands.
